Did you make a purchase at your local Walmart that you’re not happy with?
Do you need to make a return at the service desk, but not really sure when they accept returns from shoppers like you?
Fortunately, my aunt Robin has worked at our town’s Walmart store’s service desk for more than a decade and she gave me everything you need to know about making returns at your local Walmart store.
Keep reading for our guide on when you can make returns at Walmart.
Current Walmart Return Hours
If you need to make a return, then your local Walmart store generally accepts returns between the hours of 7am and 11pm Monday through Friday, with return hours between 8am and 10pm on the weekends.
However, do keep in mind that returns hours may vary by store location.
Your best bet is to use the Walmart Store Finder to get the phone number for your local store and just ring them up and ask what hours they do returns in the store.
What Is The Best Time To Return Something To Walmart?
If you’ve ever shown up at your local Walmart to return something only to be met with a long line, then you know how important it is to find the least busy times for returns.
No one wants to waste precious time in line for making a return, especially if you end up exchanging it and having to get back in that same line again.
So, you need to know the off-peak times for the returns desk to spend the least amount of time waiting in line.
According to my aunt Robin, the best time to return something at Walmart is in the early morning after they open.
She recommends coming in within the first few hours of opening for the fastest returns.
This applies to both weekdays and weekends.
What Is The Worst Time To Return Something To Walmart?
To avoid those long lines at the service desk for your returns, definitely avoid making returns during peak times.
My aunt Robin says that the worst times to make returns are around lunch time, around 5pm when people get off work, and right before closing time.
These are the times when most people actually have time in their day to visit Walmart, which results in it being busier and the lines for returns being longer.
You should also avoid making returns right after Christmas because that’s when tons of people are returning Christmas gifts and those lines and wait times get really long.
Can I Return Items Outside Of The Walmart Customer Service Desk Hours?
If you work odd hours or really long hours, then you might be wondering if you can still make returns when the customer service desk is closed.
The answer is – maybe.
At some store locations, associates are allowed to accept returns at a regular cash register checkout line.
However, Walmart does prefer that you do all of your returns at the service desk.
Before you attempt this though, it’s a good idea to give you local store a call first and ask them if they are able to accommodate your request.
You never know, they just might be able to help you out.
Final Word
Generally speaking, you can make returns to your local Walmart during the regular store hours.
Returns do need to be made at the service desk, so you usually can only make a return if that desk is open.
However, some store locations do allow returns outside of the service desk hours.
