When you need to cash a check and pick up some household goods or groceries, then Walmart is your one-stop shopping location.

Of course, that check cashing desk – the Walmart Money Center – is not always open and available for check cashing.

So, you need to make sure that you arrive at the Walmart store near you when you can get that check cashed.

I asked my aunt Robin, who works at the Service Desk at our town’s Walmart, to give me all the details on check cashing at Walmart so that you know what to expect.

What Time Does Walmart Stop Cashing Checks?

If you need to cash a check at Walmart, then visit the store before the check cashing desk closes.

Most Walmart Money Centers stop cashing checks at 8pm for Monday through Saturday each week, and at 6pm on Sundays.

While the store itself will remain open, if show up to cash a check after the hours listed above, then you’ll discover that the Money Center is all closed up.

And that means you have to wait until the next day to cash your check because no other Walmart associates are able to cash checks outside of the Money Center.

Before you head out to cash your check at Walmart, remember that Money Centers only cash checks up to $5,000, although they increase this limit to $7,500 from January to April of each year for tax refund checks.

For anything higher than that, you need to take the check to your bank.
