What We're Tinkering With Right Now

We are leading the Plaid Friday Weekend holiday campaign which shifts dollars to Oakland's independent businesses, makers, and artist during the busiest shopping weekend of the year. In partnership with the City of Oakland, Townsquared, and East Bay Express, OaklandGrown.org is the destination site of a robust, citywide holiday marketing campaign which includes billboards, bus shelters, posters, social media, print and digital ad campaigns.

We are creating an artsy, collector magazine and online gallery featuring Oakland's makers and artists, distributed at Oakland's galleries, salons, coffee houses, boutiques, and prominent gathering places as well as on our website.

We are promoting our members through social media channels, promoting their work to a large, targeted local community that wants to support them.

We are working on pipelines to ensure that local, independent businesses have better access to  growth opportunities, including access to larger contracts, premium real estate locations, good capital, and alternative work models.

We are working on the 2018 Good Money Guide, an annual resource directory which helps small businesses find favorable, ethical capital to help them grow their businesses.

We are continuously seeking ways to add benefits to our members - including marketing and networking opportunities, discounts for goods and services, and tools to help them develop their skills.
