November is Native American Heritage Month

The Indigenous Red Market event will be held on November 4th, as part of the Fruitvale Community Dia de los Muertos Festival. Día de los Muertos celebrates the cycle of life and death, which has been observed not only in Mexico, Latin America, South America but also in some Native American communities to honor our families and our indigenous beliefs.

During the week of October 29th leading up to the Dia de Los Muertos Fruitvale Community event, the CEDAR Center will feature hands-on activities for adults and children, take-home crafts, demonstrations, films and performances that reflect traditions associated with this holiday. All arrangements have been made.

The Fruitvale Community will be highlighted in local, regional and possibly national news for its major Dia de los Muertos event, which attracts over 75,000 visitors. On this day, across International Blvd., the families and supporters of the Ghost Ship artists will also host a celebration and create a community alter to honor the victims of the Ghost Ship Fire at the 31st Avenue location. Native American Health Center will join the major community events by hosting a full day of activities focused at our Native American culture as well as utilize the Indigenous Red Market.
