No excuses. We have too many craft booze options in Oakland to show up to a dinner or party empty handed or with a blah beverage. Here's some options to consider:
Pick up 1.5L magnum bottle, which serves about 10 people, for your next dinner party. One of the oldest vineyards in the state, the Bedrock Vineyard was originally owned by Generals Sherman and Hooker of Civil War fame. These particular vines were planted in 1888, making them some of the oldest vines in the state.
This isn't a dark, brooding wine—it's a celebration of old-vine fruit flavor with only 79 cases made.

Home Base Bourbon is a balanced and delicate grain-forward whiskey made with sustainably grown corn, rye, and lots of malted barley.
The whiskey is aged in new American oak barrels at char 3, allowing the flavors from the high malt content - honey, maple and nut - to complement the caramel, toffee, and vanilla notes typical of bourbons. Made in Oakland.

St. George Green Chile Vodka is made from a variety of California-grown hot and sweet peppers (jalapenos, Serranos, habaneros, red and yellow bell peppers) that build layers of sweet, savory heat. Format: 750ml. ABV: 40%.
The sweet/savory heat makes it ideal for the perfect Bloody Mary, a Moscow Mule with extra kick, a zesty Gimlet, or whenever you’re craving something fresh and spicy in your glass. Find a few recipe ideas here.

Don't let this ginjo fool you. This genshu (cask-strength) yamahai sake is smoky, oaky, and has a fair amount of acid for a sake.
Have Cowboy on the table when you have steak. Serve slightly chilled in small, somewhat narrow glassware or ceramics. This is an easy-drinking sake.
Brewed in Niigata Prefecture, Japan. 24 fl oz (720ml). 18-19% ALC/VOL.

Fortaleza Tequila Anejo has a deep, rich agave flavor. Aromatic, spicy, and insanely creamy, with tons of butterscotch and caramel. Incredibly delicious and unlike anything else.
This tequila is so rich and complex that some people are even able to detect pineapple, peach, orange blossom, nutmeg, and raisin in the nose. 40% ABV, 750ml.
