Art can be one of the best, most memorable gifts one can give. But, there is a lot to consider with such a personally subjective gesture, where the eye-of-the-beholder can vary so greatly from one person to the next. Not only do you want to factor in the aesthetics of the recipient, but you will also need to think through practicalities such framing, shipping, and installation. Fear not, we’ll help you find the perfect gifts for the creative art lovers on your list.

A Holiday Season Invitation from Galleria Scola

Tis’ the season of gathering and gifting. What do you bring your host? A piece of artwork can be a memorable hospitality gift without the guilt of candy. Over the years you have shared your tales of travel and the plunder thereof. Hand-colored lithographs from London, watercolors of the Marais, Cuban paintings, and mud cloth from Africa made it onto the walls of your home. It’s been great fun collaborating with you to transform your special finds into wall decor.

I wonder if you know that some of the exact same genre of art is waiting for you at Galleria Scola. Our collection spans the last 35 years and includes vintage hand-colored botanicals from England, antique etchings of San Francisco Chinatown, giclees of old Oakland, and Japanese woodblock prints.

I know we are not as close as your laptop but your Mac does not greet you with Christmas cookies like I do. Leave your shoes on and your passport at home and come down to shop “old school.” It’s fun!

We also have a selection of inhouse redi-made frames. We can quickly enhance your selection with a beautiful frame. Need it wrapped? We can dress it up with beautiful paper and ribbon at no extra charge. A gift like that will outlast the effects of a bottle of Pinot by putting a succession of smiles on the face of the recipient every time they look at it and think of you.
